Blizzard is in a remaster frezny
I’m sure you read the title and got as excited as we did. Countless hours of playing this game over LAN, and I’m excited to play more. Starcraft.com has even been updated. Looks like not much is changing in terms of gameplay, and I think that makes everyone feel a bit better. Why redesign gameplay that has been tested for many years?
SC Remastered looks to be just an update to SC:Brood Wars, so anyone currently without it will need to purchase it.
How did you go about replicating all the unexpected “bugs” that made BW micro so special? Did you simply reuse code from the original game, or did you find a solution to replicate the nuances of BW’s gameplay?
We’ve remastered our units, buildings, and environments, improved game audio, and broadened our supported resolutions. Illustrated interludes bring the struggles and victories of heroes like Artanis, Fenix, Tassadar, Raynor and Kerrigan to life like never before. Most importantly, the strategy gameplay that StarCraft perfected years ago remains unchanged.”
“StarCraft: Remastered is able to achieve this effect as it uses all the same gameplay code as Brood War. This means that Dragoons and Goliaths are still a bit derpy in how they react to movement commands. The Reaver’s shot doesn’t always find a target. Mutas stack.
The fact is that the gameplay is identical enough that old replays from 1.16 will play and work just fine under StarCraft: Remastered.” – Devs from interview with Team Liquid
